NEW CASTLE, DE -- Members of the Wilmington University men's basketball volunteered to help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society with their annual Bike to the Bay event on September 27-28, 2008 in Milford, Delaware.
The team helped put together and served lunches to over 2,000
bike riders participating in
the 150 mile bike ride. Last year the ride raised $980,000,
and organizers hoped to reach the $1 million dollar mark.
Riders raise money to help find a cure for multiple
sclerosis.
The two-day event was a huge success, and the team had a great time supporting such a worthy cause. Head Coach Kevin Welch organized the squad's participation in the event and said, "It was a great experience to see our student-athletes give back, and know they can contribute on an off the court".
In November, Wilmington will host the Quality Inn and Suites Skyways Tip-Off Tournament, and all the proceeds from the event will be going to the Delaware Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. For more information on multiple sclerosis and the many events the Delaware Chapter puts together, please visit their website at www.msdelaware.org.
