On October 21, 2007, members of Holy Family University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) participated in the AIDS Walk Philly.
AIDS Walk Philly is the Delaware Valley's largest annual HIV/AIDS
public awareness and fundraising event. The walk began and ended at
Eakins Oval, in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Walk
was 8.4 miles long, with route going up Kelly Drive and back down
Martin Luther King Drive. The student-athletes participated as
"Team Holy Family University-SAAC".
The AIDS WALK was an enlightening and memorable experience for all of the SAAC student-athletes who participated. It was also great for the student-athletes to join with so many other volunteers, and it was encouraging for them to see the Philadelphia area community come together for such a worthwhile cause.
Holy Family University's SAAC team raised almost $300 as a result of their participation in the Walk. Being a member of SAAC allows student-athletes to participate in community-related activities such as this as well as give back to the community. Also by participation in these types of events, the student-athletes serve to promote Holy Family University in a positive light.
