BLOOMFIELD MAKES CHANGES TO BASEBALL STAFF

May 22, 2008

BLOOMFIELD, NJ--The 2009 Bloomfield College Baseball team will have a new skipper at the helm as former CACC Coach of the Year, Matthew Belford, is no loger with the program. In his place, interim Co-Head Coaches were named by BC Athletics Director Sheila Wooten. Assistant Coaches Matt Cornacchione and Jeff Watson will take over the Head Coaching duties until a new coach is named.

Cornacchione, a graduate of Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, played four years of baseball for the Golden Tornadoes before becoming an assistant coach in 2005. Cornaccione was named to the Baseball All-American Mideast Conference Team in 2004 for and also served as team captain that year.

Jeff Watson graduated from American International College (AIC) and was an outstanding athlete in baseball and football for the Yellow Jackets. Watson was a 3-Time All-Northeast 10 Conference baseball player and holds career records in hits, doubles and RBI. In football, Watson received the prestigious David Zanin Award and won back-to-back conference championships.

Cornacchione and Watson will now use their on-the-field experience and apply it as they take over the day-to-day operations for Bloomfield College Baseball. Recruiting and player developement will be their top priorities and both coaches are focused on the duties.
