DOMINICAN TO REPRESENT CACC AT NCAA EAST REGION BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (May 10, 2010) - The Dominican College baseball team earned its second consecutive and third overall NCAA Division II East Region Tournament bid in five years, as announced Monday by the NCAA selection committee. 

By winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament this past Saturday, the Chargers secured the conference's automatic bid to the East Regional Tournament.  DC has been given the sixth seed and will take on host and top-ranked Southern Connecticut State University on Thursday, May 13th, at 11am at Yale Field.

The other teams participating in the East Regional are #2 Franlin Pierce University, #3 University of New Haven, #4 Stonehill College and #5 C.W. Post University.

The winner of the East Regional will advance to the NCAA Baseball Championship Finals, scheduled for May 22-29 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. Seven other regional tournaments will be conducted this weekend, with each sending its champion to Cary as well.

If four teams remain after Game 6, the following schedule will be used:

Game 7: Game 5 Winner vs. Game 6 Winner – 11 a.m.
Game 8: Game 4 Winner vs. Game 6 Loser – 3 p.m.
Game 9: Game 8 Winner vs. Game 7 Loser – 7 p.m.

Sunday, May 16
Game 10: Game 7 Winner vs. Game 9 Winner – noon
Game 11: Game 10 rematch* - 4 p.m.
* Game 11 only necessary if Game 9 Winner wins Game 10.
