NYACK HIRES MATTHEW CORNACCHIONE AS HEAD BASEBALL COACH

NYACK, NY (June 23, 2009) - Nyack College athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Matthew Cornacchione as the next head baseball coach.  He will also be filling the role of sports information director within the department.

Cornacchione graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA with a B.S. in elementary education in 2004.  He is currently working on an M.S. in exercise science and physical education at Montclair State University.  Matt comes to Nyack College from Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, NJ where he was the sports information director and assistant head baseball coach.  Prior to that he was an assistant coach at Geneva College for the 2005 & 2007 seasons. 

While at Geneva as a student, he was a three-year starter on the baseball team.  During his career he started at six different positions including catcher, pitcher, third base, outfield, and designated hitter.  In 2004 he was named a captain and also received All-Conference honorable mention in the American Mideast Conference. 

"We are very happy to add a person of Matt's character to our staff and I am excited about where he will take our baseball program in the future," stated Nyack athletic director Keith Davie.
