Omaha, NE – Senior second baseman Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) was listed with 130 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II student-athletes as a player to watch for the Tino Martinez Award, which is awarded annually by collegebaseballlineup.com to the most outstanding player in NCAA DII college baseball. Daywalt is the second Chestnut Hill College baseball player to be mentioned on the Tino Martinez Award Watch List; Dan Etherton was a member of the 2011 list.
After recently receiving a 2012
Preseason National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association
(NCBWA) All-East Region Second Team selection, Daywalt collects his
second preseason honor with his inclusion on the Tino Martinez
Award Watch List. Daywalt garnered all-region status from the NCBWA
and Daktronics Inc. last spring, after earning an
All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Team
selection for leading Chestnut Hill College (16-22, 10-10) to their
second consecutive CACC Championship Tournament. He was named the
baseball team’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, after
starting all 38 games at second base while providing the Griffins
with a .333 (46-for-138) batting average, 17 runs-batted-in (RBI),
and ten stolen bases (10-for-15, 66.7%) from the number two spot in
the lineup. Daywalt was a one-time CACC Player of the Week (4/4)
and a one-time honorable mention (3/14) for the award while ranking
26th nationally (NCAA DII, 5/8) for Toughest Player to
Strikeout (16.8 AB/K). He also ranked among the top three in the
nation in sacrifice bunts (.35/game). Daywalt was an All-CACC
Honorable Mention as a sophomore.
The Tino Martinez Award is

baseball. The honor is named after the former University of Tampa

information contacts and media members. Omission from the initial
list does not exclude additional players from future consideration.
The list will be updated with a mid-season release mid April.

finalists to be named on May 21st. After the finalists are named
fans will be once again be invited to vote online at tinoaward.com
