Felician's Matt Diesel Named Consensus All-American by Locking Up First-Team Honors from the ABCA

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (June 5, 2018) -- Felician University baseball standout Matt Diesel was recently named a First-Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). With the honor, Diesel became a consensus All-American this season, as he also locked up first-team honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and second-team accolades from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

The ABCA honor was the latest accolade in a strong senior season for Diesel, who was named the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year, while also locking up a spot on the All-CACC First Team. He was also the consensus East Region Player of the Year and being named to each of the three All-East Region First Teams.

Diesel finished the season with a .435 batting average and four home runs and 65 runs batted in. He also came around to score 51 runs and stole 11 bases. He led the CACC in average, hits (87), doubles (25) and RBI. He also ranked second in the conference in on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.700).
