WilmU's Miguel Siercke Named 2017 CACC Men's Golf Player of the Year to Highlight All-CACC Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 20, 2017) -- Wilmington University standout Miguel Siercke on Wednesday was named the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Siercke's honor highlighted the announcement of the All-CACC team, along with the other major awards announced.

Joining Siercke as major award winners were Post University's Fredrik Rollve, who was named the 2017 CACC Rookie of the Year, and WilmU head coach Harry Jennings, who garnered the 2017 BSN Sports CACC Coach-of-the-Year honor. Both Dominican College and Felician University were awarded with the 2017 CACC Team Sportsmanship Award for demonstrating outstanding character and class throughout the season.

Siercke has had a sensational year for the Wildcats in claiming the conference's top honor. He tied for medalist honors in the season-opening Quechee Division II Challenge in September with a two-round total of 142 (-2), including an opening-round 68 (-4). In addition to that high finish, Siercke produced four other top-10 finishes, including second in a dual match versus Concord (73, +1), a tie for fifth at both the Eagle Invitational and Wilmington Tri-Match and a sixth-place showing at the STAC Spring Invitational where he carded a pair of even-par, 72s, for the tournament to finish at 144.

In addition to being named the player of the year, Siercke also garnered a spot on the All-CACC Team for the second-consecutive year.

Rollve earned a trio of top-10 finishes during the season, including a sixth-place finish at the Charger Challenge with a two-round total of 151 (+7) and a first-round score of 71 (-1). He opened his collegiate career in September with an eighth-place performance at the FPU Fall Invitational with a one-over-par, 145, that also included an opening-round 71 (-1). Rollve placed ninth at last week's Bello Invitational in New York with a 152 (+8).

Jennings was tabbed as the BSN Sports Coach of the Year after guiding the Wildcats to four victories in tournament competition this year. Wilmington is once again one of the top programs in the East Region and throughout all of Division II.

Joining Siercke on the All-CACC were Freddy Braun (WilmU), Sam Clark (WilmU), Mark Kilpatrick (Concordia College), Leonard Lee (Dominican College), Troy Miller (WilmU), Zac Moore (WilmU), Juan Roa (Concordia), Joey Russo (WilmU) and Elliot Wakefield (Nyack College).

The all-conference honorees and major award winners will be recognized at the CACC Men's Golf Championship Banquet on Monday at Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown, Del. Back Creek will be serving as the host for the 2017 CACC Golf Championship from Monday-Wednesday.
