FOUR CACC BASKETBALL TEAMS RANKED IN EAST REGION

NEW HAVEN, CT (February 4, 2009) - Three men's basketball team's from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and one women's team are ranked in the February 3 version of the NCAA Division II Basketball East Region polls.

Two men's teams are ranked for the second consecutive week in Philadelphia University and Bloomfield College. Goldey-Beacom College entered the poll for the first time. Holy Family University remains second on the women's side.

Bloomfield is the highest-ranked men's team this week and stands seventh with a 14-4 record to go with an 8-1 conference record to top the North Division standings. Junior guard Gage Daye leads the conference in scoring at 25.8 points per-game and he also paces the league with 2.71 steals per-game.

Goldey-Beacom enters the poll in the ninth spot after upending Holy Family and Bloomfield last week. GBC is currently 14-5 overall and 8-2 in the CACC. The Lightning feature two of the top six scorers in the CACC in senior guard Kyle White (third, 21.6 ppg) and junior forward Terrence Parkes (sixth, 17.2 ppg).

Philadelphia, despite winning seven straight games, fell from No. 8 to No. 10 this week. The Rams are 16-6 overall and lead the South Division with an 8-1 conference record. Philadelphia has two of the top 10 scorers in the conference in seniors Russell Frederick (fourth, 19.4) and Malcolm Ingram (ninth, 16.7). Frederick leads the league with 2.86 three-pointers made per-game.

On the women's side, Holy Family remains second in the region and is fresh off establishing a NCAA Division II record for most consecutive regular-season conference wins. The Tigers have won 95 straight CACC games and are riding an 18-game win streak this season. The Tigers are 18-1 overall and 10-0 in conference action. Junior Catherine Carr stands second in the CACC in scoring at 17.8 ppg and the squad leads the conference in team scoring, scoring defense, scoring margin, free-throw percentage, field-goal percentage defense, assists and rebounding margin.
