Bloomfield Tops Century Mark Sunday to Reach NCAA Men's Basketball East Region Final

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (March 11, 2018) -- Nick Davidson and Keith Washington netted 33 and 31 points, respectively, to lead a massive offensive outburst by Bloomfield College on Sunday in the Bears 109-91 win over Merrimack in the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball East Region Semifinals on the Le Moyne College campus in Syracuse, N.Y.

The seventh-seeded Bears improved to 24-7 overall and will face top-seeded Le Moyne in the NCAA East Region Final on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Syracuse. It marks Bloomfield's third appearance in the regional final in the last eight years and the first since 2012. Bloomfield won the 2011 East Region Championship to advance to the Division II Elite Eight and came up just short in the 2012 final.

Matt Lajeunesse was Bloomfield's other double-digit scorer with 16 points, as the Bears shot 47 percent from the field and 48 percent from beyond the arc (12-of-25).

Khalief Crawford poured in 20 points off the bench for sixth-seeded Merrimack (20-12).

Bloomfield held a commanding 52-29 advantage on the boards, including getting a dozen from Lajeunesse. All five Bear starters logged at least four rebounds, including nine from Safee Abdus-Sabur and eight from Rakwan Kelly.

The Bears kept up their hot shooting from the night before and quickly raced out to an early led by scoring 15 of the game's first 19 points. They would never relinquish the lead and would continue to build upon the advantage throughout the entire contest.

Bloomfield held a 57-26 lead at halftime and led by as many as 42 in the second half. Lajeunesse's layup with 16:22 to go in the second half made it 70-28 Bloomfield.

Davidson posted 20 of his game-high point total in the opening 20 minutes. He was 7-of-9 shooting from the floor in the first half, including a 3-for-3 clip from downtown. Overall, Davidson was 12-of-17 from the floor.

Washington tossed in 19 of his 31 in the second half. He was 7-for-10 from outside the arc and is now 12-for-17 from long range in the opening two games of the East Region Tournament.
