Men's Lacrosse to Become CACC Championship Sport in the Spring of 2018

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (February 1, 2017) -- Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Commissioner Dan Mara on Wednesday announced the league will conduct a championship in the sport of men's lacrosse in the spring of 2018. Men's Lacrosse will become the 16th championship sport in the CACC.

Six member schools will be competing in the conference's inaugural season, including Chestnut Hill College, Dominican College, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Post University and Wilmington University. CHC and Dominican currently compete in the East Coast Conference (ECC) for men's lacrosse, but will move over for the 2018 campaign. GCU and Post currently compete as independent varsity programs. The 2018 season will mark the inaugural campaign for the sport at the varsity level for both Felician and WilmU.

"This is a very exciting moment in the conference's history," Commissioner Mara said. "We look forward to offering another outstanding championship opportunity to worthy student-athletes who strive to compete at the highest level in NCAA Division II."

The 2018 conference schedule will consist of five games for each program, beginning on Saturday, April 7 and concluding two weeks later on Saturday, April 21. The complete 2018 conference schedule can be found below at the end of this article. Each of the six member schools will be able to coordinate their own non-conference contests to fill out the 2018 schedule.

The top-four teams in the standings following the regular season will advance to the CACC Championship, which will be held from April 27-29 at a site to be determined. The championship semifinals will be conducted on Friday the 27th, while the two winners will meet in the final, two days later on Sunday the 29th.
