RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Greg Patullo of South Amboy and Stewart Flaherty of Paramus have been hired as assistant men's soccer coaches at Felician College, head coach Patrick Snyder announced today.

Patullo was elevated after one season as a volunteer assistant with the Golden Falcons, and was named the recruiting coordinator. A 2008 graduate of Felician with a degree in business administration, he was a four-year starter on defense, and was a co-captain during his senior season. As a freshman, he was a member of the last Golden Falcon squad to reach the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference finals. Patullo is an accounting associate at Prudential Financial in Parsippany.

Flaherty, in his first collegiate coaching position, will take over as the goalkeeper coach. He is the former youth development coordinator for Major League Soccer's Real Salt Lake, and won a regional coach of the year award at Cody (Wyo.) High School.  Since moving to New Jersey two years ago, he has been a head club coach in the Lincoln Park-based TSF Academy. Flaherty earned a bachelor's degree in sport science and a master's in sport psychology in his native England. He replaces Andrew Sparkes, who resigned after one season.

Patullo and Flaherty will join holdover and lead assistant Simon Nee on Snyder's 2009 staff.

"Both Greg and Stew will help us elevate this program to the level we aspire to achieve," said Snyder, entering his third season. "They both bring great skill sets to their positions that will have a tremendous impact on this program."

The Felician men's soccer team is coming off of a 6-10-1 won-lost-tied record in 2008, and a tie for eighth place in the NCAA Division II Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
