2008 CACC Men's Soccer Weekly Award Winners

September 2

Player of the Week: Edwin Miranda, Dominican (So., 5-5, M, Stamford, CT) - Tallied a goal in each of Dominican's impressive victories last week, including the game-winning goal in a 2-0 triumph over preseason No. 1 Franklin Pierce University. He also scored a goal in a 3-0 win over Southern Connecticut State University.

Rookie of the Week: Jonathan Costa, Caldwell (Fr., 6-2, F, Mississauga, Ontario) - Netted the game-tying goal to spark a comeback in an eventual 2-1 win over Saint Anselm. The goal was the first of his career.

September 8

Player of the Week: Svetozer Gladic, Philadelphia (Jr., F, 5-11, Novi Sad, Serbia) - Tallied three goals on the week, including the game-winner in a 3-2 win over Division I Army. He netted two goals in the game. He also scored Philadelphia's only goal in a 1-1 tie at Wheeling Jesuit.

Rookie of the Week: Ethan Kavanagh, Wilmington (Fr., GK, 6-5, Woodstown, NJ) - Allowed only one goal in two games while playing all 180 minutes last week. He had one save in shutting out Southern New Hampshire.

September 15

Player of the Week: Dwayne Reid, Bloomfield (Jr., F, 6-0, Bronx, NY) - Netted five goals in two road wins for the Deacons. He recorded a four-goal game on the road at Chestnut Hill and scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 conference win at Post.

Rookie of the Week: Tim Weglicki, Holy Family (Fr., F, 5-10, Philadelphia, PA) - Tallied three goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for the Tigers. He scored both of his team's goals in a 3-2, double overtime setback to Caldwell. He added one goal and one assist in a victory over Concordia.

September 22

Player of the Week: Triston Sommerville, Bloomfield (Jr., M, 6-2, Kingston, Jamaica) - Recorded 10 points in a 3-0 week for the Deacons behind four goals and two assists. He tallied two goals in a 3-1 win over Wilmington on Saturday and added a goal and two assists at Felician.

Co-Rookies of the Week: Francis Eno, Post (Fr., F, 6-1, Powder Springs, GA) and Carlos Canido, Felician (Fr., M, 6-1, Santa Cruz, Bolivia) - Both tallied two goals last week. Eno recorded the game-winning goal in a victory over Nyack, while Canido scored the game's only goal in Felician's 1-0 win over Chestnut Hill.

September 29

Player of the Week: Sargbah Tarpeh, Wilmington (Jr., F, 5-11, Philadelphia, PA) - Posted two goals and two a ssists in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats. He tallied one goal and two assists in a victory over Columbia Union and ended the week by netting the game's only goal in a 1-0 win over NYIT.

Rookie of the Week: P.J.  Tucker, Chestnut Hill (So., GK, 6-3, Woodstown, NJ) - Came up with 12 saves, including two in overtime, in his only action of the week against St. Thomas Aquinas. He kept the Griffins in the game in the 1-0 loss.

October 6

Player of the Week: James Hamilton, Dominican (Jr., M, 6-2, Paisley, Scotland) - Tallied three goals in a 2-0 week for the Chargers, including two in a 4-1 road victory at Caldwell. He also scored a goal in a 4-0 win over Chestnut Hill.

Rookie of the Week: Brandon Heembrock, Dominican (Fr., GK, 6-2, Ottawa, Canada) - Helped lead the Chargers to a 2-0 week by allowing one goal in two games while stopping eight shots. Earned a 4-0 win against Chestnut Hill and allowed one goal with seven saves at Caldwell.

October 13

Player of the Week: Joe Wright, Dominican (Jr., F, 6-0, Stratford-Upon-Avon, England) - Registered four goals in an important 5-2 win over Post last week.

Rookie of the Week: Carlos Canido, Felician (Fr., M, 6-1, Santa Cruz, Bolivia) - Recorded his first career hat trick by scoring all of Felcian's goals in a 4-3 loss to Goldey-Beacom.

October 20

Player of the Week: Chad Bennett, Caldwell (Sr., F, 5-10, Kingston, Jamaica) - Scored seven points last week on three goals and one assist to lead Caldwell to a 2-0 record. Scored twice in a 3-2 victory over Bloomfield and added one goal and one assist in a win vs. Philadelphia.

Rookie of the Week: Brandon Heembrock, Dominican (Fr., GK, 6-2, Ottawa, Canada) - Posted two shutouts last week against Wilmington and Nyack. He stopped four shots at Wilmington in a 1-0 victory and five versus Nyack in a 2-0 triumph.

October 27

Player of the Week: Matt Kocher, Holy Family (Sr., M, 6-2, Philadelphia) - Scored nine points on four goals and one assist as the Tigers went 2-1. Notched one goal and one assist in a win over Philadelphia and found the back of the net twice against Lincoln.

Co-Rookies of the Week: Tim Weglicki, Holy Family (Fr., F, Philadelphia) and Francis Eno, Post (Fr., F, Powder Springs, GA) - Weglicki picked up eight points in three games on three goals and two assists. Had two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over Philadelphia.  Eno scored five points in two games, including two goals in a 2-2, double-overtime contest against Caldwell.

November 3

Player of the Week: Paulo DosSantos, Felician (Sr., GK, 6-0, Toronto, Canada) - Posted two shutouts last week and saved 17 shots in victories over Dominican and New Haven. Came up with seven saves in a 1-0 win over nationally-ranked Dominican and 10 stops in a 3-0 triumph on the road at New Haven.

Rookie of the Week: Ethan Kavanagh, Wilmington (Fr., GK, 6-5, Woodstown, NJ) - Recorded nine saves in a 0-0, double-overtime draw against Post. 

November 10

Player of the Week: Johan Pineda, Post (Jr., M, 6-1, Lima, Peru) - Was named MVP of the CACC Tournament after leading the Eagles to the title with a 6-2 win over Holy Family. He scored two goals and added two helpers in the championship match.

Rookie of the Week: Tim Weglicki, Holy Family (Fr., F, Philadelphia, PA) - Scored at least one goal in all three CACC Tournament matches, including two in an upset of Dominican. Tallied a total of four goals for the week and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
