PHILADELPHIA, PA (June 17, 2009) - The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and Athletic Director Bob Morgan are pleased to announce the hiring of Paul Stadelberger as the next head women's basketball coach for the Devils.  Stadelberger becomes the fifth head coach in the program's history.

"Paul brings a wealth of experience to our program," adds Morgan.  "He will be an asset and a welcome addition to the USP family."

Stadelberger joins USP after serving as an assistant women's basketball coach at Philadelphia University for the past 20 seasons.  Prior to joining the Rams in 1989, Stadelberger served as assistant men's basketball coach at Haverford College for six years.

"I look forward to being the next coach in an excellent program and look forward to continuing the winning tradition established at USP," said Stadelberger.  "Having coached against USP all these years, I look forward to working with the current USP players who have impressed me with their talents.  I hope to lead USP to many post-season successes in the upcoming years."

Currently the chief executive officer (CEO) of the New Foundation's Charter School in Northeast Philadelphia, Stadelberger received his Masters in Special Education degree from Arcadia University (then Beaver College) in 1978. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Concordia (NY) College, where he was a member of both the football and basketball teams.

Stadelberger inherits a program that went 15-13 last season, qualifying for post-season play for the eighth consecutive season, eventually losing to Philadelphia University in the quarterfinals of the CACC championship.  USP has nine letter-winners returning to the squad for 2009-2010 including last year's leading scorer and first team All-CACC honoree, Erin Chesnavich.
