BLOOMFIELD AT CALDWELL WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAME TO BE AIRED ON CBS COLLEGE SPORTS NETWORK
NEW HAVEN, CT - The Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) women's basketball game between Bloomfield
College and Caldwell College on Saturday, Feb. 27, has been
selected to be broadcast nationally on the CBS College Sports
Network. The game will be played at noon at Caldwell's George R.
Newman Center. The game is one of eight Division II contests being
televised on the network this year.
The 2009-10 season marks the fourth year Division II athletics will
be televised on CBS College Sports. Past CACC participants
include the Philadelphia University men's team in 2007 and 2009,
the Holy Family University men's team in 2009 and the women's teams
from Holy Family and Georgian Court University in 2008.
"This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase CACC basketball to
the nation," said CACC Commissioner, Dan Mara. "We are proud that
the great Caldwell-Bloomfield rivalry will be televised. I know the
student-athletes of the CACC will provide an entertaining and
well-played game. We are grateful to the NCAA Division II
Presidents Council and the Division II Media Advisory Group for
selecting this game to be broadcast."
"We are extremely proud and honored to be a part of this event,"
said Bloomfield Athletic Sheila Wooten. "It gives the student
athletes of Bloomfield College and Caldwell College the chance to
showcase the caliber of athletics we have here in Division II, and
gives our schools the opportunity to show the nation the kind of
spirit and passion we've known about for years. This is a
wonderful opportunity for everyone involved."
"This is a great and unique opportunity for the girls to be a part of something like this," said Bloomfield head coach Jerry Wimberly. "It's an outstanding opportunity for us to showcase our athletes who do so many great things, and it's another step in the growth of Division II women's basketball. We're honored to be a part of this game."
"We are excited to be hosting this landmark game for our conference and for the Caldwell College community," said Mark A. Corino, head men's basketball coach and the Executive Director of Athletics at Caldwell. "Not only is it a great opportunity for our student-athletes, but the game gives the whole campus a chance to come together and put our best foot forward to showcase all that Caldwell College has to offer."
"This is such a great opportunity for our players to play a big conference game on national television," said Linda Cimino, head women's basketball coach and assistant director of athletics at Caldwell. "Bloomfield is probably our biggest rival, and we've had some exciting games the past few years. This game will provide exposure to our program and to the type of basketball we play in the CACC, and we're certainly looking forward to it."
