DANBURY, Conn. (June 5, 2019) -- Caldwell University women's lacrosse junior Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J.) was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference Diviswion II Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of thwe Year and First Team All-Star as announced by the organization. Sophomore Samantha Murphy (Pompton Plains, N.J.) was also named as an ECAC First Team All-Star.
Kassaleh added another post season award to her outstanding 2019 season. She was a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference First Team selection after leads the Cougars in points, goals and draw controls. Kassaleh earned the program's first Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region honoree as she was selected to the All-Atlantic Second Team. She became the first Cougar to surpass 200 points and the first to reach the 200-goal plateau. Kassaleh broke her single season goals and points records with 94 and 110 respectively. She tied her single game goals record of 10 in a game three times this season. Kassaleh set a new single season school record with 125 draw controls. She led the nation with 5.53 goals per game and was third in Division II in goals. Kassaleh ranked third in the DII in points per game, 11th in total points and 12th in draw controls per game.
Murphy turned in a breakout sophomore campaign as she led the Cougars in assists this season. She was named to the CACC All-Conference Second Team in 2019. Murphy finished the season with 83 points on 50 goals and a team-best 33 assists. She finished the season fourth in the CACC in assists. Murphy set the single game points record of 13 twice this past season and netted a single game record with nine assists. She also set the single season assists record this season and became the all-time leader in assists in her second collegiate season.
