NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 5, 2018) -- Caldwell University earned the No. 8 seed for the 2018 NCAA Division II East Region Women's Soccer Tournament, as announced on Monday night by the national organization's selection show. The Cougars will face No. 1 seed Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H., this Friday at 2 p.m., on Sodexo Field in the first round.
Caldwell earned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) automatic bid to the NCAA Regional after defeating Holy Family University, 2-0, in Sunday's championship final in Waterbury, Conn. It marked the program's second conference title in the last three seasons. Franklin Pierce captured the Northeast-10 Conference Championship this weekend with a 3-0 victory over Assumption.
If the Cougars were to pull off the upset win on Friday, they would advance to the second round on Sunday at 2 p.m., and face the winner of the 4-5 match between Southern New Hampshire and LIU-Post.
