SMITH NAMED WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Maddie Smith, a senior from Philadelphia University, was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 21. Luisiana Souto of Goldey-Beacom College was the choice for Rookie of the Week.
Smith, a senior from Bethlehem, PA, captured the CACC Singles and Doubles Championships on Saturday at the CACC Individual Tournament in Philadelphia. She won singles over Luisiana Souto of Goldey-Beacom, 6-1, 6-3, and teamed with Adriana Rodriguez to win doubles with an 8-4 victory over Lauren Neill and Quena Borres of Holy Family. She was named the CACC Player of the Year after the event.
Souto, a freshman from Caracas, Venezuela, advanced to the CACC Individual Tournament Championship match, where she was defeated by Maddie Smith. She was named CACC Rookie of the Year after the event. She also advanced to the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket with teammate Stephanie Bain.
Honorable Mention
Daniela Rodriguez, Philadelphia (Fr., Quito, Ecuador) - Advanced to the semifinals of the CACC Singles and Doubles brackets on Saturday.
Quena Borres, Holy Family (Jr., Larchmont, NY) - Played in the semifinals of the CACC Doubles Tournament and also advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles draw.
