2008 CACC Women's Tennis Weekly Award Winners
September 8
Player of the Week: Luciana Pereira, Goldey-Beacom (So., 5-6, Sao Paulo, Brazil) - Is currently undefeated (3-0) in both No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles this season for the undefeated Lightning. She has not dropped a set thus far in the season.
Rookie of the Week: Jennifer Jones, Goldey-Beacom (Fr., 5-2, Woodbury Heights, NJ) - Defeated two of three opponents at No. 5 singles last week. She also went undefeated at No. 3 doubles with Stephanie Bain.
September 15
Player of the Week: Daniela Rodriguez, Philadelphia (So., 5-3, Quito, Ecuador) - Went 2-0 at both No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles last week against Caldwell and Shippensburg. She lost only four games in singles and one in doubles.
Rookie of the Week: Christina Brzozowski, Philadelphia (Fr., 5-2, Wallingford, CT) - Finished the week 2-0 at both No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles, losing just four games in singles and five in doubles against Caldwell and Shippensburg.
September 22
Player of the Week: Daniela Rodriguez, Philadelphia (So., 5-3, Quito, Ecuador) - Fell just short of the singles semifinal round of the ITA Regionals over the weekend while also playing for the doubles championship with teammate Adriana Rodriguez. She swept her singles matches earlier in the week against La Salle and Millersville.
Rookie of the Week: Christina Brzozowski, Philadelphia (Fr., 5-2, Wallingford, CT) - Earned a singles victory at La Salle and a doubles win in a match against Millersville last week.
September 29
Player of the Week: Luisiana Souto, Goldey-Beacom (So., 5-8, Caracas, Venezuela) - Won her No. 1 singles and doubles matches against Chestnut Hill. She is currently 6-1 in singles for the season.
October 6
Player of the Week: Luisiana Souto, Goldey-Beacom (So., 5-8, Caracus, Venezuela) - Went undefeated at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles last week in three matches, as the Lightning went 2-1 with wins against Post and La Salle. She also earned her team's only points in a loss to Philadelphia.
Rookie of the Week: Christina Brzozowski, Philadelphia (Fr., 5-2, Wallingford, CT) - Had a 6-0 week, giving up just seven games at No. 3 singles and eight games at No. 2 doubles as Philadelphia went 3-0.
October 13
Player of the Week: Adriana Rodriguez, Philadelphia (So., 5-3, San Juan, Puerto Rico) - Did not give up a single set this week as the Lady Rams went 3-0 to clinch the CACC regular-season championship. She went 13-2 at No. 1 singles during the regular-season.
Rookie of the Week: Laney Jones, USP (Fr., 5-7, Blakeslee, PA) - Posted a 4-1 record at No. 6 singles last week. Also won her final three No. 2 doubles matches of the week to help the Devils get their only three conference wins of the season.
October 20
Player of the Week: Daniela Rodriguez, Philadelphia (So., Quito, Ecuador) - Won the CACC Singles Championship at the CACC Individual Tournament over the weekend. She upended No. 1 Luisiana Souto of Goldey-Beacom in the semifinals and No. 3 Shakir Willett of Holy Family in the championship. She was the No. 4 seed in the bracket. She also played in the championship match of the doubles competition with teammate Adriana Rodriguez.
