HAWORTH, N.J. (April 19, 2021) -- For the second time in the last three years, the Dominican College Chargers are the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Golf Champions. The Chargers carded a 305 (+17) on Monday to edge Concordia College by a stroke to claim the Spring 2021 CACC Men's Golf Championship at White Beeches Country Club in Haworth, N.J.

Dominican was led by Alexander Lundvall, who fired a one-under-par, 71, to win individual medalist honors at the conference championship. He was one of three Chargers to finish in the top-10 of the individual standings, including Alejandro Gomez (T5th) and Nicholas Arrieta (T7th), who shot 76 (+4) and 77 (+5), respectively. By placing among the top five, Gomez was named to the CACC All-Tournament Team.

The other two Chargers to play during the afternoon were Juan David Fajardo and Daniel Acosta, who each shot an 81, to finish in a tie for 12th place.

Dominican was one of the first three schools to go out for the championship round, and its 305 was posted early enough to make the final four teams still out on the course think about it as they came home on the back nine.

Concordia got off to a strong start early in the round, and at one point held an eight-stroke advantage over the field. Eventually, the Clippers came in with a 306 (+18), and despite not winning the tournament, it was still a solid showing for Concordia in its final CACC Golf Championship appearance. The Clippers led by Minwoo Park, who finished second with an even-par, 72. Gabe Goodman was fourth with a 74 (+2), and Santiago Luna was the third Concordia golfer to place among the top 10 in 10th with a score of 79 (+7).

Goldey-Beacom College finished third with a 23-over, 311, as the top three teams in the standings were the only three in the thick of the race all afternoon at White Beeches. Hunter McGee was third in the individual standings with a 73 (+1), while Camilo Samur tied for fifth with a 76 (+4).

Lundvall's championship round was a fantastic showing for the freshman, as he was the lone golfer to post a red score on Monday. After a bogey, 5, on the opening hole, he rallied with birdies on No. 2 and No 5 to be one-under making the turn to the back nine. He, at one point, got to two-under-par for the tournament, and finished with six-straight pars to not give any strokes back to the field and come in to claim the individual title.

Dominican locked up the CACC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional Tournament, which will be staged in early May.
