PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (November 6, 2022) – Top-seeded University of Bridgeport claimed its first title as a member of the conference on Sunday in the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Soccer Championship Final at Tiger Field on the Holy Family University campus in Philadelphia, Pa. The Purple Knights defeated sixth-seeded Chestnut Hill College, 2-0, as the Griffins were making their first appearance in a women’s soccer final in program history, 2-0.

On top of raising the CACC Championship trophy and banner, the Purple Knights have earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tourn next weekend at a site to be determined.

In the fourth minute of play, Leigh-Anne Ramsey netted the first goal of the game, which was assisted by CACC Tournament Most Valuable Player, Solune Moll. Just seven minutes later, Moll scored the Purple Knights’ second and final goal, which was an unassisted strike.

Clara Karlsson needed to make just two saves in net to earn the shutout victory, while also garnering a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Kaitlyn Carter turned aside 6-of-8 attempts in a tough setback in goal for Chestnut Hill. Maddie Jimenez led CHC offensively with 5 shots in the contest.
