Top Division Seeds Advance to Sunday's VB Final
2023 CACC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
LAKEWOOD, N.J. (November 18, 2023) -- The top seeds in both the North and South Divisions were victorious on Saturday in the semifinals of the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball Championship at the Wellness Center on the Georgian Court University campus in Lakewood, N.J. North No. 1 University of Bridgeport defeated South No. 2 Chestnut Hill College, 3-1, while South No. 1 Thomas Jefferson University won by an identical score over South No. 3 Wilmington University.
UB and Jefferson will square off on Sunday at 12 p.m., in the 2023 championship final at the Wellness Center. The winner will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament in two weeks at a site to be determined. Jefferson will be seeking its third-consecutive CACC Championship while the Purple Knights are going for their first CACC title in just their second season competing in the conference. It will be a rematch of a semifinal contest from last season.

Grace Presswood had 16 kills and 15 digs, while Hailey Jessen posted a team-high 17 kills to help guide the Purple Knights to victory. Erika Dubosky posted a match-high 19 kills for CHC in the setback. All four sets were tightly contested. UB fought off set point twice in the first set to post a 26-24 win. Chestnut Hill responded with a 25-20 win in set two, and both teams traded point for point in the third set before Bridgeport was finally able to nab a 28-26 triumph. UB then hung on for a 25-21 win in set four to punch its ticket to Sunday's final.

Jess Molen went for 20 kills and 15 digs to spark the Rams to the win. Caroline Bond also had a double-double of 44 assists and 20 digs, as she was one of four Rams to post double-digit digs. Sam Mann added 11 kills on a .300 hitting percentage. Jefferson pulled out a close 25-20 win in set one, but then went on a surge late in set two to pull away for the 25-10 triumph. It appeared WilmU may be swept, but the Wildcats showed great composure in set three by picking up a 25-21 in to say in the match. Jefferson got out to a strong start early in set four, but WilmU stayed in before the Rams bunched several points late in a 25-17 victory to win in four. Cailyn Smiley had a double-double of 12 kills and 13 digs for the Wildcats. Elly Collins had 29 digs and Katie Bushong totaled 28 assists, 10 digs and three blocks.
