Post Wins while Bloomfield & Jefferson Come Up Short at NCAA East Region Tournament
COLCHESTER, Vt. (March 16, 2024) -- Three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schools competed Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Men’s NCAA Division II East Region Tournament, with Post University's 80-72 win over St. Thomas Aquinas College highlighting the day at the Ross Sports Center in Colchester, Vt. Bloomfield College and Thomas Jefferson University competed as well, with the former coming up just short in a 75-70 setback to Southern New Hampshire University, and the latter falling 74-66 to Daemen University.
Post will now face SNHU Sunday night in the semifinals.

In Bloomfield’s game against Southern New Hampshire, the Bears took an early lead but quickly fell behind by as many as seven points. But entering the second half they were only down a point. Bloomfield took an early 42-40 lead in the second half, but lost it again. The Bears trailed by no more than eight points in a tight affair but came up just short by five points. Izaiah Poole was Bloomfield’s top performer with 25 points, going 3-6 from behind the arc and a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. CACC Rookie of the Year Starrell Hearns scored 15 points and added five rebounds. Zamorian Singleton scored 12 and had seven rebounds.

Post came out victorious in a back-and-forth affair against STAC. Post went down early, but led by All-CACC First Teamer Deng Deang, the Eagles went into halftime up five after Deang hit a three pointer as time expired. Early in the second half, STAC took a brief 41-40 lead which lasted less than 20 seconds as Deang hit another three pointer to regain the lead. Post’s lead grew to as large as 10 points. However, STAC slowly clawed back to take a one-point lead with 2:04 left in the game. Over the next 50 seconds, Quest Harris scored four unanswered points to give post a 73-70 lead. All-CACC Second Teamer Bol Akot scored a layup to make it 75-70, but with 30 seconds left, STAC made it 75-72. Akot closed out the game for the Eagles from the line scoring the rest of their points to lead his team to an eight-point victory. Deang had a 31-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead the Eagles to their victory. Akot scored 13 points including Post’s last seven. Harris scored four very important points and also had nine rebounds.

After a back-and-forth game early in the first half where the CACC Champion Rams led by as many as five points, Jefferson went into the second half down nine, but managed to tie the game with 11:40 left. However, Jefferson was never able to regain the lead in the game as it lost by eight. Antonin Kemkeng led the way for Jefferson as he had 29 points, going 12-14 from the field, and five rebounds. All-CACC Third Team member Ahmed Barba-Bey added 15 for Jefferson.
