LAKEWOOD, N.J. (May 4, 2025) – No. 1 seed Dominican University earned a 19-10 victory over No. 2 seed Thomas Jefferson University in the championship final of the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Georgian Court University Track & Field Complex.
Dominican wins the CACC championship for the third consecutive season. The Chargers also claim the conference’s inaugural automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Championship tournament. The NCAA field will be announced Sunday night at 8 p.m.
The Chargers, ranked No. 24 in the most recent national Division II coaches poll, built a 9-6 halftime lead. Dominican then took control by notching the first four goals of the third period. DUNY was up, 14-8, by quarter’s end, then caged the first three scores of the fourth.
Madelyn Grella, the nation’s leading Division II point scorer, topped Dominican (18-1) with seven goals and three assists. Tournament Most Valuable Player Erica Ortiz produced six goals and 13 draw controls. Taylor Hood and Emily Ryder scored four goals each for the Rams (11-8).
Dominican will enter the NCAA Tournament having won 17 consecutive games.

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its affiliation with NCAA Division II. Conference institutions compete for championships in 18 sports – eight for men, nine for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 12 members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes Bloomfield College of Montclair State University, the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
