GBC SID Crudele to Receive 25-Year Award from CSC

Longtime Athletics Communicator in 12th Full Year With Lightning

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (January 16, 2026)Derek Crudele, Sports Information Director at Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference member Goldey-Beacom College, will receive a 25-Year Award from College Sports Communicators, CSC announced on Thursday.

Crudele is one of 25 collegiate athletics media relations professionals nationwide who will be presented a CSC 25-Year Award in 2026. Recipients, who must have completed 25 years in the athletics communications profession by July 2026 and be voted on by the CSC Special Awards Committee, will be honored at the CSCUNITE Convention from June 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Crudele is in his 12th full year as the SID at Goldey-Beacom after arriving in December 2014. The vice chair of the CACC sports information directors committee, he is responsible for all public relations within the Lighting’s athletics department, plays a large role in game management and day-to-day operations, and chairs GBC’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

Prior to Goldey-Beacom, Crudele was the SID at Widener University from 2005-14 and the Assistant Athletics Media Relations Director for Long Island University (2000-05). He is a 1997 graduate of George Mason University.

Also among those receiving a CSC 25-Year Award in June will be Matt McLagan, the Director of Sports Information at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. McLagan was the SID at CACC member Caldwell University from 2004-15.

 

Founded in 1961, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has been affiliated with NCAA Division II for 20 years. Conference institutions compete for championships in 17 sports – seven for men, nine for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 11 full members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
