WATERBURY, Conn. (November 15, 2025) – Trailing by two goals with 38 minutes remaining, No. 2 seed University of Bridgeport rallied for a 4-3 victory over event host and No. 1 seed Post University in the final round of the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Soccer Championship tournament on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
Bridgeport (8-4-8) wins its first championship in its four years as an CACC member, and its first conference title of any kind since sharing the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference crown in 2001. The Purple Knights earn the CACC’s automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division II Super-Region 1 Championship tournament.
After the sides exited halftime even at 1-1, Post (9-2-7) scored twice during the first 6:34 of period two. Shortly thereafter, the Purple Knights had a player sent off and were forced to play down a man. Nevertheless, UB drew even with goals in the 56th and 61st minutes, and drew a penalty kick with 14:36 to play. Joao Miranda’s initial attempt was saved by Eagle goalkeeper Chris Jones, but Jones was ruled to have come off his line. Miranda buried his second attempt into the upper left of the net, and the Purple Knight defense held off Post the rest of the way.
Miranda and Pierre Leo each had a goal and an assist for Bridgeport. Markus Boe Tunge finished with a goal and two assists and Jones made seven saves for Post. UB graduate midfielder/forward Enzo Beatrix, who collected a goal and two assists during his team’s three victories, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Bridgeport looks forward to the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Selection Show on Monday at 7 p.m. Post, currently ranked No. 5 in Super Region 1, will also await word on a possible NCAA bid.
