It is the fourth straight year the Wildcats have been ranked in the Top 25 of the final NFCA poll of the season. They were 24th in 2022, 8th in 2023, and 5th in 2024.
The Wildcats went 36-19 overall, winning their third straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament and advancing to their fourth consecutive Super Regional series. The Wildcats were one win away from reaching the NCAA DII Softball Championships for the third season in a row.
Wilmington was receiving votes in the previous poll, jumping to 21st overall in the Final Poll on June 3. They finished with 76 points, finishing three points shy of Lenior-Rhyne in 20th and 13 points ahead of Tiffin in 22nd. Pace is the only other team from the East Region in the Final Poll, jumping to fourth overall after their run to the Semifinals of the NCAA DII Softball Championships.
During the four-year span of reaching the Super Regionals every season, head coach Mike Shehorn and the Wildcats have gone 164-71 overall, good enough for a .698 winning percentage.
