Wilmington is First in 2025 CACC Women's Tennis Preseason Poll

Coaches Tap Four-Time Defending Champion Wildcats

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (August 21, 2025) – Wilmington University has been selected first in the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women’s Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll. The results of the balloting were announced today by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara.

Wilmington (17-5, 10-0 in 2024-25) enjoyed an undefeated conference regular season last fall before winning its fourth consecutive CACC championship. The Wildcats received four first-place votes and 24 total points in the poll.

Thomas Jefferson University gained the other two first-place votes and finished second in the balloting with 19 points. Goldey-Beacom College was chosen for third place (17 points), followed by Chestnut Hill College in fourth (15). Post University (10) and Dominican University New York (5) complete the poll.

The regular season begins on September 6 when Chestnut Hill travels to Bloomsburg University. Conference play is slated to start the following Saturday, Sept. 13. At the end of the fall season, the top four teams in the standings will qualify for the CACC Championship tournament, to be hosted by Wilmington from Oct. 18-19 at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, Del. The CACC champion will automatically qualify for the 2026 NCAA East Region Championship in May.

Founded in 1961, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has been affiliated with NCAA Division II for 20 years. Conference institutions compete for championships in 17 sports – seven for men, nine for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 11 full members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
