Holy Family Uses Overtime To Advance in CACC Men's Lacrosse

Tigers Claim First Postseason Victory; Semifinals Set for Wednesday

WATERBURY, Conn. (April 25, 2026) – No. 5 seed Holy Family University claimed the first postseason victory in the history of its program when it earned a 18-17 overtime victory over host and No. 4 seed Post University during the first round of the 2026 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Holy Family joins the top three seeds – No. 1 Wilmington University, No. 2 Chestnut Hill College, and No. 3 University of Bridgeport – in next Wednesday’s semifinals. Tournament information is available at the CACC Championship Central web page at https://caccathletics.org/tournaments/?id=33.

On Wednesday, April 30, Wilmington will host Holy Family at 3:30 p.m. in Newark, Del. At 7:30 p.m., Bridgeport will travel to Lafayette Hill, Pa., to face Chestnut Hill.  The semifinal winners will meet for the 2026 CACC Championship on Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m.. The championship final will be hosted by Wilmington at its athletics complex in Newark. The winner of the CACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship will earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Division II North Region Championship tournament.

Tickets for all rounds of the 2026 CACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship are $10 for adults, and $5 for children, senior citizens (65+) and students with valid identification. NO. 5 HOLY FAMILY 18, No. 4 POST 17 (OT)
Noah Simpson scored the game-winner with 17 seconds remaining in the first overtime period to lift the Tigers (8-6), a third-year program playing in their first CACC Tournament. Holy Family had tallied twice in the final 1:23 of regulation to force extra time, with James Bienia securing the equalizer at 0:17. Bienia assisted on Simpson’s winning score, which came after both teams had two shots saved during overtime. HFU’s Jake Feeney led all players with eight points on three goals and five assists. Kegan Swain had two goals and five assists and Charlie Foster picked up 16 ground balls for the Eagles (9-7).
