WilmU Men's Lacrosse Stopped by Adelphi in NCAA Tournament

CACC Champion Unable to Slow National No. 1

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (May 10, 2026) – Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion Wilmington University was defeated by host Adelphi University, 16-6, in the first round of the NCAA Division II Men’s Lacrosse Championship tournament on Sunday afternoon at Motamed Field. Wilmington, the No. 8 seed from the North Region, completes 2026 with a won-lost record of 12-5.

Adelphi (17-0), the No. 1 seed and the top-ranked Division II team nationally per the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, scored the game’s first seven goals. The Panthers were ahead, 9-2, at halftime and led by as much as 16-3 with 9:32 to play. Adelphi was the Northeast 10 Conference champion.

CACC Player of the Year Andrew Dzubak scored three goals for Wilmington. Josh Weston picked up two goals and an assist. The Wildcats were making their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

Adelphi, the two-time defending D-II national champion, hosts Pace University on Wednesday in the national quarterfinals.

 

Founded in 1961, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has been affiliated with NCAA Division II for 20 years. Conference institutions compete for championships in 17 sports – seven for men, nine for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 11 full members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
