NEW HAVEN, Conn. (June 19, 2024) -- Georgian Court University men's track & field standout Kyle Spector on Wednesday was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for May, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Spector earned the award for demonstrating success on the track during the month, while also being a standout in the classroom and giving back to his local community.
The senior from Manalapan, N.J., won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the CACC Track & Field Championship in early May, marking the fourth time in his impressive career that he won the event at the conference meet. He also scored team points with an eighth place finish in the 5,000 meters at the 2024 CACC Championship.
In the classroom, Spector boasts a 3.92 cumulative grade point average in his major of psychology. He was named to the CACC All-Academic Team and CACC Academic Honor Roll numerous times and was placed on the 2023 CSC Academic All-District Team.
In the community, Spector is an active volunteer firefighter with the Gordon's Corner Fire Company in Manalapan, responding to various types of emergencies including fires, motor vehicle accidents, missing persons as well as assisting other townships with their firefighting and emergency service needs.
Spector is the final monthly award honoree for the 2023-24 season. The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month Award is handed out each month from September through May, spanning the course of the academic year, and recognizes a student-athlete for their athletic success during the month while also highlighting their academic achievement and community service throughout their career.
