Jefferson, Wilmington to Meet for 2025 CACC Women's Tennis Title

Familiar Foes Play on Sunday at Noon for Conference Crown

WILMINGTON, Del. (October 18, 2025) – For the fourth time in the last five years, Thomas Jefferson University and Wilmington University will meet in the championship final of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women’s Tennis Championship tournament. Top-seeded Jefferson and No. 2 seed and tournament host Wilmington advanced to the 2025 final with semifinal victories on Saturday at the Delcastle Tennis Center.

Jefferson moved on with a 4-0 victory over No. 4 seed Chestnut Hill College on Saturday. Wilmington followed by defeating third-seeded Goldey-Beacom College, 4-0. The Rams and Wildcats will play for the crown on Sunday at noon at Delcastle.

Doubles competition between Jefferson (13-0) and Chestnut Hill (5-8) went the distance after the first two completed matches were split. A 6-4 victory by the Rams’ Anouk Oderkerk and Alycia Veroux at the No. 1 spot sealed the match’s first point. Jefferson quickly surged ahead, 2-0, when Sophia Barber won by default at No. 6 singles. Oderkerk dropped only two games during her victory at No. 1 singles, and when Madina Omarova wrapped her match with a win at No. 3, the Rams had moved on.

Similarly, the Wildcats and Lightning began their afternoon by each taking a doubles match. The first team point came down to the No. 3 flight, where Wilmington’s Gloria Barcaro and Elena Camacho came out on top. Wilmington (9-2) quickly moved to clinch the match in singles, where Ming-Fu Chen, Camacho, and Molly Carlberg lost only two games apiece at Nos. 4, 6, and 3, respectively. Goldey-Beacom, whose players had won the first set in the other three singles matches, completes its fall season at 5-6.

Wilmington has eliminated Jefferson from each of the last four CACC Tournaments, including three times in the final. This season, however, the Rams have won both regular-season meetings, capturing 4-3 victories on Sept. 24 and Oct. 11. The Wildcats have won the last four CACC championships, while Jefferson seeks its first title since 2009. The 2025 CACC champion will receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship tournament in May 2026.
