Wilmington's Matt Wilson Named President of NCAA FARA

Longtime WilmU FAR to Lead National Professional Organization

INDIANAPOLIS (December 4, 2025) -- Wilmington University Faculty Athletics Representative Matt Wilson has been elected to a one-year term as president of the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representatives Association, the national organization recently announced. Wilson has served as Wilmington’s FAR to the NCAA and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference since 2018 and has been a member of the University’s faculty since 2007. He currently serves as a Professor and Director in the College of Education and Liberal Arts.

FARA is the professional association representing faculty athletics representatives across all three NCAA divisions. FARs serve as vital campus liaisons for academic integrity and the student-athlete experience, reporting directly to their institution’s President or Chancellor. All NCAA FARs are automatically members of FARA.

“Dr. Wilson is extremely dedicated to the Faculty Athletics Representative Role,” said CACC Commissioner Dan Mara. “He makes a difference in the student-athlete experience on his campus, in the conference, and now on the national level. He is an excellent choice to lead FARA.”

Wilson is only the second individual to serve as Wilmington University’s FAR. He has been an active contributor to the campus community, chairing the Faculty Senate for two terms from 2013–2015 and serving on numerous committees and councils. Within the CACC, he has chaired the conference’s Faculty Athletics Representatives group and served on the NCAA Division II nominating committee.

“I am honored to serve as President of FARA and to collaborate with colleagues across all NCAA divisions who are dedicated to supporting student-athletes,” Wilson said. “Faculty Athletics Representatives play a vital role in promoting academic integrity and student well-being, and this opportunity reflects my deep commitment to helping student-athletes thrive both in the classroom and in competition. I look forward to continuing to advance that work on a national level.”

A graduate of Wilmington University, Wilson earned an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Innovation. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio Valley University and a Master of Science in Bible and Ministry from Lubbock Christian University.
