Bridgeport Emerges to Grab 2024-25 CACC Men's Basketball Title

Purple Knights Win Three Games in Philadelphia; Top Post, 67-57, in Final

PHILADELPHIA (March 9, 2025) – North Division No. 3 seed University of Bridgeport defeated North No. 2 seed Post University, 67-57, in the championship final of the 2024-25 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Championship tournament on Sunday afternoon. The game was hosted by Thomas Jefferson University at the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Convocation Center.

Bridgeport, in its third year as a CACC member, wins its first CACC title in men’s basketball and its first conference championship in the sport since capturing the East Coast Conference in 2015. The Purple Knights claim the CACC’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship.

UB (19-12) led by as many as seven points during the opening period and 31-28 at halftime. The game was tied on three occasions early in the second half before the Purple Knights, trailing 40-39, made a decisive 16-4 run to lead by 11 with 9:07 to play. Malikai Delgado scored eight points during that spurt. The Eagles (18-13) could get no closer than a five-point deficit the rest of the way.

Aliou Cisse led a balanced Bridgeport offense with 14 points. Delgado and Jason Edokpayi scored 12 points apiece. Harrison Warnock and Ta’Quan Williams each netted 15 points for Post.

Cisse was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after averaging 15.7 points and 4.7 rebounds during his three games in the event. Bridgeport looks forward to the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Selection Show tonight at 11 p.m.
