CACC Men's Basketball Semis Set; Bridgeport Lone First-Round Road Winner

Jefferson To Host Rest of Conference Championship Tournament

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 4, 2025) – The University of Bridgeport, the No. 3 seed from the North Division, was the only road team to earn a victory during the quarterfinals of the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Championship tournament on Tuesday night. Bridgeport will join No. 1 seeds Dominican University New York and Thomas Jefferson University and North No. 2 seed Post University in Saturday’s semifinal round.

Bridgeport traveled to northwest Philadelphia, Pa., to top South Division No. 2 seed Chestnut Hill College, 85-81. In another game played in Philadelphia, South No. 1 Jefferson defeated North No. 4 seed Caldwell University, 84-71. The Rams were the South Division’s only winner on the night. North No. 1 Dominican got past South No. 4 Wilmington University, 98-83, in Orangeburg, N.Y., and in Waterbury, Conn., Post outscored South No. 3 Goldey-Beacom College, 76-68.

The tournament now moves to Jefferson, which will host the semifinals and finals at its Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Convocation Center. On Saturday, Dominican takes on Bridgeport at 5 p.m., followed by Jefferson facing Post at 7 p.m. Saturday’s winners will meet in the championship final on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The 2025 CACC champion will earn the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division II East Region Championship.

Tickets for all rounds of the 2025 CACC Men’s Basketball Championship are $10 for adults and $5 for children, senior citizens (65+) and students with valid identification. No. N1 DOMINICAN 98, No. S4 WILMINGTON 83
After leading by three points, at halftime, the Chargers (20-7) put up 57 second-half points to break free of the Wildcats (9-20). Dominican, which put five scorers in double figures, forced 22 turnovers while committing only nine. Jaden Honis led the hosts with 20 points and seven assists, and Chance Morrish had 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. Wilmington’s Justin Perez scored 23 points.

No. N3 BRIDGEPORT 85, No. S2 CHESTNUT HILL 81
The Purple Knights (17-12) led by 16 points with 11 minutes remaining before holding on. Aliou Cisse topped a balanced UB offense with 19 points and six rebounds and teammate Amadou Traore (8-11 FG) chipped in 17 points. IV Pettit netted 30 points in defeat for the Griffins (14-14).

No. N2 POST 76, No. S3 GOLDEY-BEACOM 68
Deng Deang
recorded 25 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles (17-12), who trailed by one with six minutes remaining before scoring the game’s next 10 points. Post’s Bol Akot added 11 points. The Lightning (11-18) received 17 points apiece from Zakari McQueen and Tre Powell.

No. S1 JEFFERSON 84, No. N4 CALDWELL 71
A fast start propelled the Rams, who led, 25-15, after 12 minutes and 51-33 at halftime. Jefferson picked up 26 points and seven rebounds from Justin Hawkins and 22 points from Ashton Miller. Derrick Bueno turned in 25 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars (18-11).
