LANSING, Mich. (April 5, 2025) – The first appearance by a team representing the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in the NCAA National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship came to a close on Friday. Felician University, the 2025 CACC champion, was eliminated from the Lansing Regional with Mega Match losses to Wichita State University, 2-0, and Fairleigh Dickinson University, 2-1. The Lansing Regional is being hosted by the University of Olivet and the Lansing Sports Commission at Royal Scot Golf & Bowl.
Felician, ranked No. 22 in the most recent national all-divisions coaches’ poll, could not get past a strong performance by No. 5-ranked Wichita State in opening round play. The Shockers were victorious, 999-847, in the traditional format, and 1088-953, in Baker total pinfall, averaging 208.7 for the match. Senior Ashley Ferrara and junior Mackenzie Keane both rolled 197 games during traditional play to lead the Golden Falcons.
The result set up an afternoon matchup for Felician with No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson University, which fell to No. 3 Vanderbilt University, 2-1, during the first round. Behind a 220 from Ferrara and another 197 by Keane, the Golden Falcons got past FDU in the traditional format, 891-879.
The Golden Falcons started a lineup of Samantha Slocum, Sandra Hornor, Vivian Luna, Ferrara and Keane for the Baker total pinfall round, which was close throughout. After four games, the teams were separated by just one pin before the Knights shot 202 to Felician’s 183 in Game 5 for an overall 961-941 win, necessitating a Baker best-of-seven competition.
FDU won the first two games of the best-of-seven before Felician claimed a two-pin victory in Game 3. The turning point game when the Knights edged the Golden Falcons, 176-174 in Game 4. FDU then ended the match by taking Game 5, 211-166.
FDU and Vanderbilt will meet on Saturday morning for the right to face Wichita State for the regional championship. The winner of the Lansing Regional advances to the National Collegiate Championship on Apr. 11-12 in Las Vegas, Nev. Felician completes its season with a dual-match won-lost record of 75-34.
The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its affiliation with NCAA Division II. Conference institutions compete for championships in 18 sports – eight for men, nine for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 12 members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes Bloomfield College of Montclair State University, the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
