Caldwell's Vondracek, Tavaska Selected as Softball All-Americans

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 23, 2025) – Two Caldwell University softball players have been selected as Division II All-Americans this week. Senior second baseman Grace Vondracek was voted onto the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-America Second Team, while Cougar senior shortstop Ashleigh Tavaska was a Third-Team choice of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Vondracek, of Odessa, N.Y, played in all 48 games for the Cougars. She led the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in batting average (.455), on-base percentage (.556), runs scored (56), walks (23), and stolen bases (42). She had 62 hits, including seven doubles, and three triples.

Tavaska, from Jackson, N.J., batted .442 over 48 games with 17 doubles, seven triples, 10 home runs, 44 runs scored, and a CACC-best 59 runs batted in. She also stole 11 bases in 12 attempts. Her .838 slugging percentage led the conference. She shared the CACC home run lead and was third in triples and base hits (68).

Vondracek and Tavaska helped lead the Cougars to a 24-24 record and a tie for fourth place in the CACC. They were the only CACC softball players to be selected to a 2025 All-America team.

 

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its affiliation with NCAA Division II. Conference institutions compete for championships in 18 sports – eight for men, nine for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 12 members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes Bloomfield College of Montclair State University, the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
