NORRISTOWN, Pa. (October 8, 2026) – St. Thomas Aquinas College sophomore J.D. Ambrose is the individual champion of the 2026-27 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Golf Championship tournament. The 54-hole event was hosted by Thomas Jefferson University on Tuesday through Thursday at Jeffersonville Golf Club.
Ambrose began Thursday’s final round in third place, two strokes behind teammate Conor McKenna for the lead. He passed Chestnut Hill College’s Hugo Almeida into second place early in the day, then got past McKenna for good on the 11th hole. After five consecutive pars, a birdie on the par-5 18th hole secured medalist honors for Ambrose.
Ambrose, from Marshfield, Mass., finished the tournament with a six-over-par total of 216 (75-70-71). He also helped St. Thomas Aquinas capture the team championship. Full results are available at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/244742/scoring/player.
The event’s top five players were named to the 2026 CACC All-Tournament Team. McKenna (71-72-75) settled for a three-way tie for second place at 218. Joining him in the runner-up spot were fellow sophomores Sebastian Ramos (72-75-71) of Wilmington University and Alvaro Rogado (74-73-71) of Felician University. STAC sophomore Max Gibbs (79-67-75—221) grabbed the final All-Tournament spot.

St. Thomas Aquinas joined the CACC as an associate member for men’s golf this summer and was playing in the conference championship tournament for the first time since exiting the league as a full-member following the 1998-99 academic year.
Founded in 1961, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has been affiliated with NCAA Division II for 21 years. Conference institutions compete for championships in 18 sports – seven for men, 10 for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 11 full members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
