DUNY, Wilmington Earn Trips to CACC Women's Lacrosse Final

Wildcats Grab Road Semifinal Victory, Will Face Three-Time Defending Champion

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 30, 2026) – No. 1 seed Dominican University New York and No. 3 seed Wilmington University earned semifinal victories on Thursday afternoon during the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship tournament. Dominican and Wilmington will meet in the championship final on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Wilmington University Athletics Complex in Newark, Del. The Wildcats were the predetermined host of the final.

Both of Thursday’s winners got off to fast starts. Dominican earned an 11-7 home victory over No. 4 seed Georgian Court University in Orangeburg, N.Y. Wilmington, meanwhile, picked up its second playoff win in three days, going on the road to top No. 2 seed Thomas Jefferson University, 14-7, in Philadelphia, Pa. The winner of Saturday’s contest not only claims the CACC championship but captures the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division II East Region Championship tournament.

Dominican is playing in the championship final for the fifth year in a row and is seeking its fourth consecutive CACC title. Wilmington, meanwhile, is appearing in the final for the first time. The Chargers got past the Wildcats, 12-11, in the teams’ 2026 regular-season meeting on March 28 in Newark.

Tickets for the 2026 CACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship final are $10 for adults and $5 for children, senior citizens (65+) and students with valid identification. No. 1 DOMINICAN 11, No. 4 GEORGIAN COURT 7
The Chargers (14-3), ranked No. 19 in this week’s national Division II coaches’ poll, jumped out to leads of 5-0 after one period and 8-2 at halftime. The Lions closed to within a three-goal deficit on two occasions, but Dominican kept GCU off the scoreboard for the game’s final 11:12.  DUNY’s Madison Mileti collected five goals and four assists and Jenna Rigo led the defense with six ground balls and six caused turnovers. Caitlin Petrellese had four goals and an assist and Natalie Moradian made 12 saves for the Lions (10-9).

No. 3 WILMINGTON 14, No. 2 JEFFERSON 7
The Wildcats (17-2) scored the game’s first five goals and were ahead, 10-2, midway through the third quarter. Wilmington received five goals and two assists from Ella Royer, while Kirra Crowley turned in four goals and one assist. Lilly Lutz led the Rams (13-5) with five points (1g 4a), while teammate Iris Gluck accumulated three points, seven ground balls, five caused turnovers, and six draw controls.
