Wilmington Repeats as CACC Baseball Champion

Wildcats Capture 11th Conference Crown Since 2007

WATERBURY, Conn. (May 9, 2026) – No. 1 seed Wilmington University won the 2026 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship with a 12-3 victory over No. 2 seed Goldey-Beacom College during the first game of the championship final on Saturday morning at Waterbury Municipal Stadium. The event was hosted by Post University.

Wilmington wins its second consecutive CACC title and its 12th overall, including its 11th under current head coach Brian August during the program’s NCAA era. The Wildcats claim the CACC’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship.

Wilmington picked up 14 hits and drew seven walks during the final. The Wildcats led, 4-0, after two innings and 6-1 after five, and pitcher Dylan Potero made the early offense stand up. Potero gave up just an unearned run on four hits with six strikeouts in six innings of work, with CACC Pitcher of the Year Scott Borgmann going the final 2 2/3 scoreless, one-hit frames to secure the championship.

Cam Trego (3 for 4, triple) and Brett Walmsley (2 for 5) each drove in three runs for Wilmington (39-15). The Wildcats’ Chase Fleming was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after going 8 for 16 and earning a pitching victory during his team’s five playoff games. Bobby Stewart and Brent Williams collected two hits each for Goldey-Beacom, which was making its first appearance in the final.

Wilmington looks forward to the NCAA Division II Baseball Selection Show on Sunday at 10 p.m. Goldey-Beacom, ranked fifth in the East Region, as well as sixth-ranked CACC member Felician University, also hope to hear their names called.
