Felician Remains Alive to Defend East Region Baseball Crown

Golden Falcons Avoid Eliminiation With Win Over Molloy; WilmU, GBC Rained Out

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 14, 2026) – Felician University, an at-large selection from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, remained in contention in the 2026 NCAA Division II East 2 Regional Baseball Championship with a 15-10 victory over host Molloy University on Thursday evening at Mitchel Field in Uniondale, N.Y. Earlier on Thursday, Felician had opened the event with an 11-5 loss to Southern New Hampshire University.

CACC champion Wilmington University and CACC at-large selection Goldey-Beacom College saw their first-round matchup postponed due to rain in the East 1 Regional in Waltham, Mass. Wilmington the East Region’s No. 4 seed, and No. 5 seed Goldey-Beacom will try again on Friday at noon, with the loser to remain on the field to face No. 1 seed Bentley University.

No. 6 seed Felician (34-22), the 2025 East Region champion, stayed alive to defend its title with the help of a six-run fourth inning against No. 2 seed Molloy (39-10), highlighted by back-to-back home runs by Neisser Sanchez and Matthew Scrivanic. The Lions pulled to within 10-6 by scoring four times in the fifth, but the Golden Falcons answered with four sixth-inning runs. Haiden Walters and Luis De La Cruz had three hits each and Jose Medrano also homered for Felician.

The tournament began with No. 3 seed SNHU (41-12) using a seven-run bottom of the fourth inning to erase a 5-2 deficit. Felician was then held off the scoreboard for the duration of the contest. De La Cruz hit a home run and Matt Murphy was 2 for 4 for the Golden Falcons.

Molloy is ranked No. 24 and Southern New Hampshire No. 25 in the most recent national Division II coaches poll. The Lions and Penmen meet on Friday at noon, with Felician to then face Southern New Hampshire on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Uniondale. The Golden Falcons will need two victories on Saturday to win the tournament.

Both East Regional Championships are three-team, double-elimination events. The winners will meet in a best-of-three series next weekend for the regional title and the right to advance to nationals.

 

Founded in 1961, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has been affiliated with NCAA Division II for 20 years. Conference institutions compete for championships in 17 sports – seven for men, nine for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 11 full members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
