NEW CASTLE, Del. (May 10, 2025) – Tournament host and South Division No. 2 seed Wilmington University won the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship Tournament with a 20-3 victory over North Division No. 2 seed Felician University in the first game of the championship final on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.
Wilmington wins its 11th CACC title, including its 10th under current head coach Brian August during the program’s NCAA era. The Wildcats claim the CACC’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship.
Felician had topped South No. 1 seed Thomas Jefferson University, 10-9, earlier on Saturday to advance out of the elimination bracket and earn a date with Wilmington. After Jefferson (38-15) erased deficits of 5-0 and 6-5, Felician moved ahead, 10-6, in the top of the eighth inning and held on. Haiden Walters was 3 for 6 and Christian Bauman had a pair of doubles for the Golden Falcons, while Thomas Matuszewski drove in three runs for the Rams.
The Golden Falcons and Wildcats were meeting in the CACC baseball final for the fourth time, with Wilmington also emerging victorious in 2012 and 2018 and Felician taking the 2014 crown. On Saturday, the Wildcats took control early, plating five second inning runs. Dom Marotta pitched 4 1/3 shutout, one-hit innings of relief and the Wilmington offense continued to tack on, putting together 21 hits and seven walks.
Nick Classie, Josearmando Diaz, and Garrett Quinn had three hits each for Wilmington (36-20). The Wildcats’ Brandon Grygo was named the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player after driving in 15 runs during his team’s six games in the event. Bryan Santana was 2 for 3 for Felician (38-18).
Wilmington looks forward to the NCAA Division II Baseball Selection Show on Sunday at 10 p.m. Four other regionally-ranked CACC teams – Dominican University New York, Felician, Goldey-Beacom College, and Jefferson – also hope to hear their names called.
