NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 18, 2025) – Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference at-large representative and tournament host Thomas Jefferson University will play in the championship game of the 2025 NCAA Division II Baseball East Regional 1 Championship on Sunday afternoon at Weiland Park in Center Valley Pa. Also on Sunday, CACC champion and tournament host Wilmington University and CACC at-large representative Felician University will meet in the winners’ bracket final of the D-II Baseball East Regional 2 Championship at Wilson Field in New Castle, Del.
Rain had halted play at both regional sites on Friday. The Regional 1 tournament, being hosted by No. 1 seed Jefferson at DeSales University, was down to two teams, the Rams and No. 5 seed Franklin Pierce University, each with no losses. Jefferson and the Ravens split a pair of games on Saturday, setting up today’s winner-take-all contest at noon.
The four-team, double-elimination Regional 2 tournament began on Friday after being delayed two days by inclement weather. No. 2 seed Wilmington won its opening-round game, 14-5, against No. 7 seed Molloy University. No. 3 seed Felician followed with a 9-8 triumph over No. 3 seed Felician University.
Wilmington and Felician will play at 12:30 p.m. today in New Castle in a rematch of the CACC championship final at the same site just over a week earlier. The winner advances to Monday’s championship round, while the loser will stay on the field to take on the winner of a morning elimination game between Pace and Molloy.
Jefferson (40-16) moved to within a game of its first super regional appearance with a 9-2 victory over FPU on Saturday afternoon. A go-ahead three-run fifth-inning home run by Thomas Matuszewski supported an eight-inning, three-hit, six-strikeout pitching effort from Albert Bobadilla. But later Saturday the Ravens (33-20) scored 10 fifth-inning runs and totaled 17 hits for the game in a 22-5 win to force today’s deciding contest.
Wilmington (37-20) plated seven runs in the fifth to erase a 5-3 deficit against Molloy in New Castle. Scott Borgmann pitched 4 2/3 innings of shutout, three-hit relief. Brandon Grygo was 3 for 6 with a double and triple out of the Wildcat leadoff spot and Josearmando Diaz and Cam Trego hit home runs.
Felician came back from a 7-2 hole against Pace by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the seventh-inning, highlighted by a go-ahead grand-slam home run from Jaxson Wall. Wall finished 4 for 5 and Anthony Lamar was 3 for 3 as part of the Golden Falcons’ 15-hit attack.
The two winners of the Regional Tournaments will play in the East Super Regional Championship, a best-of-three series the following weekend to be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
