NEW HAVEN, Conn. (September 27, 2026) – The CACC Esports League is back for its third year and fifth season of competition. The conference will sponsor two game titles during the Fall 2026 semester – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Marvel Rivals.
Smash Ultimate is a competitive fighting game with a large roster of characters and other elements which make it a massive crossover celebration of video-game history. Five CACC teams will compete this fall. Not only is Bloomfield College the defending champion, but the Bears have won all four contested seasons of Smash Ultimate in CACC history.
Marvel Rivals is a team-based, third-person superhero shooter game where Marvel heroes and villains battle across destructible environments. A record six conference teams will participate and will look to unseat Goldey-Beacom College as the CACC champion.
In each game title, teams will compete in a six-week, single round-robin regular season (four matches plus a bye for Smash Ultimate; five matches for Marvel Rivals) which will end with a tiebreak week. It all leads to a postseason for which the top four teams will qualify, and during which each game title will crown a champion in mid-November. Following the playoffs, coaches will choose a Player of the Season and an All-CACC Team for each game.
Action was limited during Week 1 in Smash Ultimate, with Bloomfield capturing the only contested match. A full slate of matches in Marvel Rivals saw Caldwell University, Holy Family University, and Post University emerge victorious.
Founded in 1961, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has been affiliated with NCAA Division II for 21 years. Conference institutions compete for championships in 18 sports – seven for men, 10 for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 11 full members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
