Four Chargers Named to IWLCA All-East Region Teams

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (May 17, 2025) -- Four members of the Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) East All-Region Teams as was announced this week.

Madelyn Grella and Jenna Rigo were named to the East All-Region First Team, while Grace DeStasio and Erica Ortiz earned Second Team accolades.

They were the only players from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) to earn All-Region honors.

For Grella, this is her second straight IWLCA East All-Region First Team honors.  Grella, who is the current NCAA Division II points leader (175) was also recently named to the All-CACC First Team and to the CACC All-Tournament Team.  She leads the conference and team in both assists and points.

Rigo earns her first All-Region honors in 2025.  She was most recently named the 2025 CACC Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-CACC First Team.  Rigo has helped Dominican to own the top scoring defense in Division II. The Chargers allow just 5.67 goals per game. Individually, she topped the CACC in caused turnovers and was fifth in ground balls.

DeStasio also earns her first All-Region accolades this season.  She was named to the All-CACC First Team and to the CACC All-Tournament Team.  She finishes her career as the program's All-Time Leader in goals (303).

Ortiz makes her first appearance on the All-Region Second Team in 2025.  She was most recently named the CACC Tournament MVP, to the All-CACC First Team as a draw control specialist and to the All-CACC Second Team as an attacker.  Ortiz was second in the conference in draw controls.

The IWLCA has honored 128 student-athletes in Division II with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2025. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will announce the Division II 2025 All-American teams on May 21.
